The Marucci CAT 9 has been overhauled with new AZR alloys. The new AZR aluminium is formed in a three-stage heat treatment process. This new three-stage manufacturing method is important because it allows the Marucci CAT 9 drop 8 to have a multi-variable wall design, which means the thickness of the barrel changes as you move in the sweet spot. The multi-layer design affects the performance of the bat, as the barrel bend of the Marucci CAT 9 increases as the alloy gets thinner.
